“Sam and Dean, run it’s coming,” screamed Katy as she came bolting around the corner and into the room. Shocked, they turned to look at her as she slammed the door and bolted it shut. Katy was out of breath, bleeding from a long jagged gash in her arm and the claw marks on her face, and her clothes were torn.

Dean ran to her and asked, “Kat, what in the world happened to you?”

He started to clean up the blood, but Katy shook him off and said, “We don’t have time to fix it, we need to leave now or we are all going to die.” She grabbed him by the arm and told him and Sam to gather all of their clothes. Suddenly there was a loud crash at the door and they heard a gut wrenching wail. “We need to leave now,” said Katy as she backed away from the door. She turned and pulled the light on the wall down and they ran through the opening just as the horrible creature came crashing through the door. As they ran through the passage into a hallway, they could hear the scritch and slam of the monster half-limping and half-running toward them. They ran around the corner and into a dead end. Katy ran to the wall and began frantically running her hands around the wall searching for something. “It has to be here, where is it,” whispered Katy hysterically.

Sam and Dean came up beside her and asked, “What are you looking for.”

    “A secret passage!”

The boys began to help when they heard a raspy voice say, “ Don’t run prettyyyy ladyyyyy. I onllllllly want tooooo play a gameeeeeeeeeee.” The creature moved forward and stretched its hand toward them and the….

Hold on a minute. I should probably start from the beginning. For instance, my name is Katy Black and the two boys are the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean. Now you probably think that we were born into a horror story, right? You have never been so wrong. We were actually sucked into the story. The day started like any other…

The sun was streaming through the window into the dark college library. Katy Black sat, surrounded by books on monsters and horror, with her head stuck in a book. She didn’t notice the shadow slowly creeping toward her until it grabbed her. “Aaaahhh,” shrieked Katy dropping her book. She started to struggle until the shadow began laughing hysterically. She stopped and said, “Dean stop it. You scared me.” That made him laugh harder until his younger brother Sam came up and smacked him upside the head.

“Hey Kat. What are you doin’,” asked Sam as he put his law books on the table. Katy walked over to the table and said,

“ I’m supposed to be writing a paper for my English Lit. class, but I got distracted.”

The Shining, really Kat,” asked Dean as he picked up one of the books sitting on the table.

“I actually like that book and you would too, if you would pick it up and read it, boyfriend of mine,” said Kat taking the book from him “, But that is not what I was reading. I was reading The Creature in the Shadow.” Sam stared at her and Dean snorted.

“That is a lame name, and I don’t know why you like reading this junk. None of its real.”

“Well we will never know and it is not junk Dean. It is entertainment,” said Katy as she began to put the books back on the shelf. Dean tossed the book she had been reading back on the table and said,

“ I would be more entertained if we were actually in the story.” No sooner had he said those words than a sudden loud and strong wind started to turn the pages of the open books and pull at their hair and clothing.

“What is happening,” shouted Sam over the wind. Nobody answered because they were suddenly picked up off of the floor and pulled into the tornado of books and pages. Then just as suddenly as it started, it vanished along with Sam, Dean, and Katy.

Katy sat up with a groan and held her head. Then she looked around and realized that she  wasn’t in the library anymore and Sam and Dean were nowhere to be seen. “Sam, Dean where are you,” shouted Katy as she started to move and look for them. She kept shouting that until she heard a groan coming from the bush behind her. She rushed over and found both Sam and Dean lying on the ground moaning. She helped Dean stand and then went over to Sam. “Where in the world are we,” asked Katy as she pulled him up.

The three of them looked around and Sam finally said, “ Well, we are definitely not at Stanford anymore.”

“This is just great,” said Katy as they began to walk up the road.

Dean came up next to her and said,“ Hey at least it’s not raining and storming, right?” As soon as he said that it began to rain. Katy and Sam looked at Dean with looks of pure death.

“Just stop talking Dean, you started this whole thing anyway,” said Sam as the began to trudge up the road. They walked for hours in the rain and thunder until they finally saw a mansion.

“Look, maybe they can help us,” said Katy as she pointed out the mansion. From where they were standing the mansion looked dark and sinister and seemed to reach out at them with claws as the lightning shot through the sky.

Sam stared at it and said, “You two are insane. I am not going near that place. Haven’t you ever watched a monster movie? Nothing good ever comes out of creepy mansions.”

“Sam we don’t have much of a choice do we? We have no idea where we are and on top of that it’s pouring rain,” said Dean as he began walking up the driveway. They walked through the twisted, rusting, gnarled iron gate and straight past the gargoyles and other unnamed creatures that lined the walkway. When they reached the door, Katy took a deep breath and then knocked on the door.

The door slowly creaked open and they cautiously pushed their way inside. “Hello? Is anybody here? My name is Katy and this is Sam and Dean. We were wondering if you could help us,” said Katy as Sam and Dean pushed the heavy door closed. When nobody answered Katy turned to the boys and said “, I guess no one’s ho-”

“Can I help you,” said a voice behind her, cutting her off. Katy whirled around to find an elderly man standing on the stairs. He had very thin hair, pale almost ghostly white skin, bright green eyes, and he wore the white garb as that of a scientist.

“I..I..,” stuttered Katy as she looked at him.

“What my girlfriend is trying to say is, we lost our way and we got caught in the storm. We were hoping that you could help us get home and maybe find a hotel or something,” said Dean coming to the rescue.

The old man smiled and said, “I see. Well, I can certainly try to help you get home, but as far as the hotel, whatever that is, I’m afraid that there isn’t one near here.”

“Where exactly is here,” asked Sam speaking for the first time since they had arrived.

“You are in Gorebridge, England. I would be delighted if the three of you would stay here for the night.”

“Oh, we wouldn’t want to impose,” said Sam at the same time Katy and Dean said,

    “We would love to stay.”

“Then it is settled. Let’s get you situated in your rooms and cleaned up. Then we can talk about getting you home,” said the man. Then he led them upstairs.

“Thank you so much for your help Mr…,” said Katy.

The old man laughed and said, “Forgive me. My name is Tomb. Doctor Konstatine Tomb.” Katy, Sam, and Dean all looked at each other and Katy felt a chill go down her spine. He first stopped in Sam’s room and then Dean’s. Finally, he led Katy into her room and said “, Here is your room my dear. I hope you like it, it was my daughter Christine’s.”

“Thank you. It is lovely, is your daughter here,” asked Katy picking up a picture of a young girl.

“No, she died when she was seven.”

“I’m sorry,” said Katy as she put the picture back down.

The old man smiled at her and said, ”It is in the past. She is in a better place.”

He began walking to the door when Katy asked, “Do you have a library?”

“Yes it is downstairs very easy to find, but I wouldn’t wander around this place alone. You never know what might be lurking in the shadows,” said Dr. Tomb and then he was gone. The thunder and lightning crashed outside and Katy felt a chill slither its way up her spine at his words. Katy shook her head after a few moments and then went to take a bath and hang her clothes to dry by the fire. After taking a bath she sat in a chair by the fire trying to relax, but she couldn’t get his words out of her head. … Never know what might be lurking in the shadows. She had heard those words before, but couldn’t remember where. She sat thinking until suddenly it hit her. She knew those words because she had read the in The Creature in the Shadow. “Oh my gosh. We are in the book,” whispered Katy beginning to fill with dread. She quickly got dressed and went to tell Sam and Dean.

“You are insane,” said Sam as he stared at her in disbelief.

Katy shook her head and said, “ I am not. I remember everything now. The scientists name was Dr. Tomb and he lived in Gorebridge and he said those exact words.”

“Okay so you are telling me that we are in a horror story with a monster,” asked Dean. Katy nodded and Sam turned pale. Dean took a deep breath and said, “Okay. Tell me what the monster looked like.”

“I don’t know. I was about to get to that part when I was interrupted,” said Katy giving him a pointed look.

Sam threw his hands up in the air and said, “This is just great. This is all your fault. If you hadn’t said we should go in the book none of this would have happened.”

He walked over to Dean and was about to hit him when Katy said, “That is enough. Maybe you’re right, I’m crazy, but we all need to calm down. I’m going to try and find the library. You guys stay here until your clothes are dry and then come find me.” Then she left the room, grabbing a lantern from the table as she did.

Katy walked down the dark hallway she had found  trying not to let Dr. Tomb’s words get to her. She walked for several minutes, the only sound was her feet and the strom outside. Suddenly she heard a screech, like someone’s nails on a chalkboard and a deep breathing that wasn’t her own. She stopped and froze then turned around to look behind her, but found nothing. She took a deep breath and shook her head saying, “It’s only in your head Kat. There’s nothing here.” She started to walk, but stopped when she heard the noise again. Screech, screech. “Hello? Is anybody there,” asked Katy as she held the lanturn up and looked all around the hall. The only answer was screech and the deep breathing. Katy’s heart began to race and she felt a cold sweat on the back of her neck. She kept looking around and said “, Dean, this isn’t funny. Jokes over, you can come out now.” Suddenly she heard a scritch and a slam, like some one was dragging their leg and slamming it down on the ground. The screeching and the breathing got louder and Katy began to back away. She stared in front of her and whispered, “Dean?”

“Pretttty ladyyyyy huhhhhhh,”rasped a voice that wasn’t Dean’s. Katy froze and then slowly turned around.

Katy turned around and was horrified at what she saw. Standing before her was a little girl that looked about seven years old, but she was dead. Her shoulder length hair was ratty and matted together and  she wore a dress that was ripped in several places and covered in dried blood and gore. Her face had chunks missing from it and there were just flabs of skin hanging there and her neck had stitches in it, almost as if someone had tried to sew it back on. Her right arm had bits missing and stitches and the nails were long and jagged. Her left arm didn’t even have skin and was missing the hand, and her legs, her left one had stitches going down the middle, and her right one, oh God, the skin had peeled off and lay around her ankle like a sock, revealing the bone. As if that wasn’t terrifying enough, she wore a smile on her face. Katy took all of this in and tried to scream, but it lodged itself in her throat. She began backing away slowly, but the thing followed her. “Prettyyyy ladyyyyy huhhhhh, don’tttt beee scareddddd,” said the girl as she reached out her hand to touch Katy’s face.

Katy’s heart began to race as she said, “Do.. don’t hurt me plea..please.” The little girl just smiled at her and gently touched her face. Then she pulled her hand back and clawed Katy in the face. Katy screamed as the pain washed over her and she tried to get away. She wasn’t fast enough, the monster caught her arm with it’s nails and continued to rip at her clothes.

“Don’tttt hurrrrt meeeee, sayyyysss the prettyyyyy ladyyyy huuhhhhhh,” rasped the creature, with it’s crazed smile, as it ripped into her, “That’sssss whaaat I saiiiddd wheeen mommmyyy dearessst diddd thissss tooo meeee huuuhhhhhh.” She raised her hand to once again bite into Katy, but never reached her because Katy kicked her hard in the middle of her chest and ran.

Now we are back to where we started. I will tell you that I will never look at a horror story after this.

Katy ran as fast as she could as the creature called, “Commmeeeee backkkk pretttyyyyy ladyyyy huuhhhh. I onlyyyy want tooo playyyy.” The scritch and slam of the monster running after her echoed through the hall as she ran.

“Sam and Dean, run it’s coming,” screamed Katy as she came bolting around the corner and into the room.  Shocked they turned to look at her as she slammed the door and bolted it closed.

They ran through the passage and into a hallway. They could hear the scritch and slam of the monster half-limping and half-running toward them. They ran around the corner and into a dead end. Katy ran to the wall and began frantically running he hands around the wall searching for something. “It has to be here, where is it,” whispered Katy hysterically.

Sam and Dean came up beside her and asked, “What are you looking for.”

    “A secret passage!”

The boys began to help when they heard a raspy voice say, “Don’t run prettyyyy ladyyyyy. I onllllllly want tooooo play a gameeeeeeeeeee.” The creature moved forward and stretched its hand toward them.

Katy clung to Dean as Sam yelled, “Come on. I hate horror stories. I am too young to die in a stupid book. I wish we had never come here.” As soon as he said those final words, a strong wind came rushing into the area. The creature wailed as the wind pushed and pulled it around as it created a tornado.

The last thing they heard was the monster yelling, “Prettyyyy ladyyyy commeeee backkk.” Then everything went black.

Katy groaned as she sat up and took in her surroundings. “We’re back,” said Katy as she jumped to her feet and shook Sam and Dean awake. They all sat in silence as Katy read the book to find out what happened to Christine. “So her mother went crazy, tortured and then killed seven year old Christine. Her mother then died of sickness and her father tried to bring her back with black magic, but instead brought back a zombie that has haunted the darkness ever since,” said Katy as she closed the book.

Dean shook his head and said, “I don’t understand, if she wounded you, where are your wounds now?”

“I don’t know, they disappeared when we came back,” said Katy as she looked down at herself. Sam, who had been very quiet since they got back, finally said,

“Well, the next time you two want to go into some horror story leave me out of it. I never want to go near another book like that.” Katy put the book back on the shelf and then they all left. It was dark by the time they left and they decided to go home. Sam and Dean left Katy in front of her house and promised to come over the next day. Katy turned to open the door of the house when she suddenly felt a chill go up her spine and she heard the words Prettyyyyyy ladyyyyyy.
